MELAKA: Following a spike in Covid-19 infections, the state Health Department is talking with stakeholders the possibility of closing educational establishments in the area.

Dr Rusdi Abd Rahman, Melaka Health Director, said his staff will continue to monitor the situation and provide recommendations to the state Covid-19 management committee.

“We’re still talking about educational institution clusters,” he said when reached on Tuesday. “We’ll make recommendations based on the scenario” (Feb 1).

However, he stated that the Melaka Education Department has the authority to close educational facilities.

So far, 600 teachers and students in the state have tested positive for Covid-19.
